How often do you get out of the office to have some fun and spend quality time with your colleagues?
The Eggar Forrester Insurance team recently went on an away day to celebrate a year of excellent work and to prepare for another successful year ahead.
As a small but close-knit team, we’re always looking for ways to improve how we do our work and help each other to be the best that we can be.
On our trip, we tackled a range of games and challenges in small groups and as individuals. These activities were extremely helpful in developing a host of skills that will allow us to get back to the office with renewed energy. In turn, we know that we’ll be able to serve our clients to even higher standards than we already do.
So, what did the team away day help us to do, and how will it benefit you? Read on to find out.
Working together to solve problems helped us improve our communication as we had to ensure that everyone knew what they needed to do to solve the puzzle. When you’re under pressure from a time limit or a competing team, this can be especially challenging.
Of course, communication is an invaluable transferrable skill in all areas of life. But when it comes to helping you to protect what’s most important to you, effective communication is vital. We pride ourselves on working well as a team, but there’s always more to learn to ensure we’re helping you as much as possible.
Some of the challenges of the away day required strategy and a plan to ensure we could solve them. Practising these skills in a fun environment was a great way to boost our ability to navigate challenges.
Being able to look ahead and spot the challenges that are likely to arise is a key part of the work we do for our clients. It’s vital that we are able to recognise the risks you are exposed to so that we can create a protection plan that’s bespoke to you. So, any opportunity to further hone these skills is snapped up by our team.
An improved skill set isn’t the only result of a team away day – it can also be a great boost to employee motivation. Of course, a little bit of healthy competition also goes a long way in getting that motivation going!
Our day of games and challenges was a fun reward for some great work across the past year. It also provided a refreshing change of scene, which inspired us all to think a bit differently about our work.
As the old saying goes, “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. We are always striving to provide our clients with the very best customer service and support, and days like this are all part of this.
While healthy competition is fun and energising, collaborating with teammates also helps us to become closer as a team. When we collaborated on the challenges, we had the opportunity to learn each other’s strengths, innovate, and ultimately solve the challenge in front of us that much faster than we’d have been able to alone.
All of these outcomes mean that we can offer the very best service to our clients. We look forward to putting these new skills and innovations into our work for our clients over the coming year.
Our team works hard to help our clients protect what is most valuable to them. Whether that’s commercial property, private assets, business insurance, or something else, we can help to give you peace of mind for the future.
